Burial spaces expanded at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCK
Families with the tradition of burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery or interested in this mid-Wyandotte County location have new space availability for consideration with two recent expansions at the Kansas City, Kan., cemetery. Mt. Calvary has recently expanded space in its mausoleum and added a new section for ground burials.
Robert W. Chenoweth, executive director, said that the cemetery has finished space available in the north wall of the St. Joseph Mausoleum. This has resulted in 51 additional mausoleum crypts (with 84 burial spaces) and 114 cremation niches. At the end of last year, there were only 53 unsold mausoleum crypts and no cremation niches.
The crypts are exterior facing with granite shutters and trim. There is a paver sidewalk, railing and steps for the convenience and safety of family members and friends visiting the mausoleum site.
Chenoweth said that the cemetery also opened up the last section of available ground burial spaces in a site west of the mausoleum. This resulted in 214 new burial spaces.
"This is a beautiful area of the cemetery with mature trees," Chenoweth said. "This brings the total number of ground burial spaces remaining at Mt. Calvary to 900. I encourage families interested in burial at Mt. Calvary to contact us to make pre-arrangements given these expanded space options."
Catholic Cemeteries manages and maintains seven cemeteries in Johnson and Wyandotte Counties.
